Profile: Scott Parker
Scott Parker has more than 18 years experience in the web industry, in a variety of roles and sectors. He began by helping to build one of the Government’s first websites in 1994, going on to manage one of the UK’s first profit-making online news services and develop sites for Nursing Times and Health Service Journal. Scott was also Associate Editor of Internet Magazine, the UK’s leading internet title during the dotcom boom and bust, where he wrote extensively on how to build and manage great websites.
Until the end of 2009 Scott was Head of Product Design for Dr Foster Intelligence, one of the leading health information companies in the UK. This involved building complex web-based applications for clients such as the Department of Health and NHS organisations as well numerous consumer-facing health websites, often working in partnership with major online publishers such as Telegraph.co.uk, Saga, netdoctor.co.uk, Channel4.com and Times Online.
He started his own web consultancy business in 2009 to enable him to work with a broader variety of clients and to offer a more personal touch on new and exciting projects.
His book – The Web Designer’s 101 Most Important Decisions – was published in May 2012 and offers a wealth of advice to anyone looking to build or commission a website.
Scott is married with three children and lives in Colchester, Essex.
